Lawful Development Certificates
What are LDC'S
If you want to be certain that the existing use of a building is lawful for planning purposes or that your proposal does not require planning permission, you can apply for a ‘Lawful Development Certificate’ (LDC).
It is not compulsory to have an LDC but there may be times when you need one to confirm that the use, operation or activity named in it is lawful for planning control purposes.
LDC'S
There are two types of Lawful Development Certificate (LDC) which a local planning authority can grant:
- Where the development refers to an existing use of land, operation or work is being carried out in breach of planning conditions being lawful for planning purposes, or;
- Where the development refers to a proposed use of land or a building – or where work is proposed to take place in, on, under, or over the land to confirm whether it would be lawful for planning purposes.
